Soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr].
In this chapter we describe an Agrobacterium tumefaciens transformation method of soybean that utilizes mature half seeds and regeneration from the cotyledonary node region. This method results in fertile transformed soybean plants and transgenic seed in approximately 9 months. Using mature half seeds as starting material has proven to be a reliable method that does not require additional wound...
متن کاملRelationship between Yield and its Component in Soybean Genotypes (Glycine Max L.) using Multivariate Statistical Methods
18 soybean genotypes were examined to investigate the relationships between some principal attributions of morphology with seed yield per soybean, by Random Complete Block Design (RCBD) study. This study was also carried out three replicates to gain reliable results. The results of variance analysis indicated that, there were significance differences among all soybean genotypes. Moreover, the r...
متن کاملReproductive Growth and Dry Matter Production of Glycine max (L.) Merr. in Response to Oxygen Concentration.
Reproductive as well as vegetative parameters of mature soybean (Glycine max [L.] Merr. cv. Wye) plants grown in chambers in which the aerial portion was exposed to altered pO(2) during all or part of the growth cycle were measured. Oxygen concentration was found to be a key factor controlling all phases of reproductive development. Exposure to 5% O(2) from early seedling stage to senescence in...
متن کاملInfluence of Chromium Stress on Proline Accumulation in Soybean (Glycine max L. Merr.) Genotypes
Four genotypes of soybean (Glycine max L. Merr.) were taken for investigation to know their response towards chromium stress. On the basis of seedling growth vigour index and dry weight, the genotypes JS 355 and P 1 were found tolerant to chromium stress when compared to the other genotypes. The tolerant genotypes had shown higher proline contents in their shoots.
متن کاملPhytochrome-driven changes in respiratory electron transport partitioning in soybean (Glycine max. L.) cotyledons.
After it was observed that light induces changes in electron partitioning between the cytochrome and the alternative pathway, the focus interest was directed to assessing what type of photoreceptors are involved and the extent of such modifications. Studies on 5-day-old soybean (Glycine max L.) cotyledons using an oxygen isotope fractionation technique showed that phytochrome is involved in cha...
